The Dougy Center was the first center in the US to provide peer support groups for grieving children and their families; they also provide training worldwide so others can replicate their peer-support model. During a visit to the Dougy Center, we learned of their need to replace the outside wooden staircase and fire escape. It took several months to finalize the design and obtain plan review approvals and permits, but the end result was a great, functional staircase. The assistance of Wiss Janney Elstner Architectural Consulting and REA Structural Engineers were crucial.
